Ordered a new one last Monday (18th) and got a text this morning that it will be delivered today... 9 days

Replacements for wife and kid arrived within three weeks of standard online renewal application which was very simple. As i said previously depends on whether we are talking renewals or new. New might be a different ball game.

I applied for one for my son, three weeks ago. I got it last week - took 10 days from submission. Express service

I know a fairly high up person at the passport office.
Very few want to physically go back to work apparently..
Been going on for months.
LOGGERHEADS with management.
They’ll prossibly go back in the office once we’ve got a Labour government again and they’ve all stopped sulking.
Bit like all the other civil servants.
Maybe they’ll retire by then though.
Or maybe we’ll all be vaporised by nuclear warheads and none of it will matter anyway.

You have to be careful with length of time lest on a passport as the EU take it as 10 years since issue not the expiry dates as some passports renewed early had the unused months added on to the 10 years.

Really it should be taken off you and burned the next time you enter the UK, but yes it is still valid until expiry (although check your next destination for how long they require to be left on it).

I see Boris wants to privatise the Passport Office, it'll be great, you'll get it done in week but you might have to sell a kidney to pay for it.

I done mine during the second lockdown and had it delivered to me within a week of filling in the online form.
Quite a lot of fiddling about getting the photo right but once done no problem.
I also work opposite the passport office one day a week and the queues outside seem to be increasing each week.

Less than a week. Completed the form, took a photo to attach, put it in the post and couldn't believe how quickly it came back.
